Role Overview

UMENCO is recruiting with the opportunity to join a noted design and home brand as Market Development Lead.

In this role, the Market Development Lead will be responsible for establishing and managing the brand’s retail and trade business in the Sydney market, ensuring that all budgeted revenue and profit targets are achieved,
and market development growth commitments are met.

The Market Development Lead will work to recruit, develop, empower and retain an exceptional multi-channel team of account managers and retail salespeople to grow the brand’s channels and fortify the brand’s reputation as one of the best in the industry.

The Market Development Lead will work closely with the brand’s founder to set up the Australian showroom, and will be accountable for securing a retail space; liaising with interior designers to develop the space and fit-out, and driving the growth of key commercial and residential trade accounts. Atop this, they will perpetually identify opportunities to achieve profit and growth objectives.

They will execute all trade marketing initiatives, including seasonal collection launches in-house and group showings to display new products.

They will also build and implement the region’s three-year market development program to achieve
targeted regional channel growth, and manage the region’s business ongoing to achieve the combined wholesale, retail, and trade profit target, while contributing to global profitability.

In doing so, they will manage the region’s balance sheet, ensuring all KPIs are met, and will continuously lead and inspire their team to grow the region by delivering on budgeted revenue by channel.

A natural relationship builder, the Market Development Manager will be personable, with inherent people-leadership abilities, a high level of integrity, a strong customer-service focus, and a clear understanding of sales cycles.

The talent we seek will be a motivated, dynamic team player who is committed to sharing the voice of the brand, and will have a strong affiliation with textiles and design.

They will hold historical success in ensuring that region/market-based teams align with global processes, policies, and standards; a proven track record of achieving revenue, profit, and growth targets in a multi-channel,
consumer-centric apparel business, and will be highly systems proficient.

Our ideal talent will be able to demonstrate success in establishing a centralised internal customer service model with KPIs, consistently exercising effective commercial decision-making, and be available and able to travel both locally and overseas and spend time on the road and work remotely.
