Role Overview

UMENCO is recruiting a commercially-literate Buying Manager for an esteemed Australian menswear brand, known for its emphasis on considered construction and premium textiles.

This is an opportunity for a well-versed buying manager to coordinate, lead and drive the process of selection, design, purchase, production, delivery and allocations to support company growth and maximise sales and profitability.

They will define, implement and communicate a seasonal buying strategy that foregrounds the timely delivery of product, and that draws on acute product analysis and insights.

The Senior Buyer will also work cross-functionally with the merchandising, production, creative and marketing teams, in addition to liaising and interacting with a scope of external partners to ensure the success and growth of the brand.

The specific duties of this role include overseeing the buying across all categories and departments; delivering ranges that meet the respective first and delivered margins, leveraging an effective product selection and adhering to pricing architecture.

Additionally, the Senior Buyer will work collaboratively with the Merchandise Planner to help establish the allocation strategy and to manage the product markdown and liquidation process, with the view to maximise return on inventory.

They will also be involved in the selection and design of fabrics in unison with the Head of Design and CEO; the maintenance of, and innovation across processes and systems; the overall ownership of Style Arcade tool and the management of OTB spend, in alignment with relevant budgets.

The successful talent will have at least 5-years of tenure in a comparable buying role; an innate cognisance of what constitutes an ideal product mix; and demonstrated experience executing a buying strategy that has increased profits through leveraging strategic insights.

They will be equal parts logical, attentive and collaborative in their ways of working, with a customer-centric mentality, a strong comprehension of retail and buying financials, and an innate drive for results.
