Role Overview
UMENCO is recruiting an experienced Commercial Interior Designer to join the team at a furniture company known for its modern design handwriting and commitment to quality and craftsmanship.
In this global role, the Commercial Interior Designer will define a cohesive creative interior merchandising strategy for the brand’s global showroom locations, including Singapore, Malaysia, Canada, China, Australia, and the UK.
The Commercial Interior Designer will work to develop and implement world-class visual merchandising strategies and guidelines to showcase furniture collections in engaging and innovative ways. They will manage showroom installation and change-overs globally, including casual labour, and will coordinate the Visual Merchandising Ambassadors in showrooms, ensuring constant education and compliance with interior design and visual merchandising standards and execution.
They will develop layouts, floor plans, and finishes for new showrooms; present quarterly global flock presentations, including concepts and seasonal settings for major changeovers that support brand and promotional activity; develop and manage interior design and merchandising budgets and manage external vendors and suppliers to source props, fixtures, and materials required to enhance the showroom experience.
As part of their duties, the Commercial Interior Designer will conduct regular showroom visits to assess visual design and visual standards and identify opportunities for improvement.
They will consistently stay on the forefront of technology and digital trends in interior design and visual merchandising and will balance this with analysis of sales data and customer feedback to evaluate the effectiveness of design strategies.
The talent we seek will present with a bachelor’s degree in Interior Design, Visual Merchandising, or a related field; at least seven years experience in interior design or senior visual merchandising within the retail industry; a robust understanding of interior design principles, space planning, and visual storytelling, and proficiency in design software such as Adobe Creative Suite and CAD software.
