Role Overview


UMENCO is currently recruiting a Design Room Manager for an established swim and ready-to-wear brand who are known for their contemporary silhouettes and luxurious fabrics.

The Design Room Manager will be a key figure in supporting both the Creative Director and Head of Production & Development. This role involves overseeing the execution of all systems, processes and timelines critical to the development of seasonal swimwear and ready-to-wear collections. The successful talent will be responsible for streamlining processes, managing multiple priorities and ensuring that all aspects of design and production are aligned with set timelines. This role requires leadership to drive innovation within the design development process, implementing new systems and technologies to enhance efficiency and creativity from concept to production handover.

The Design Room Manager will include managing and maintaining critical design and development systems, such as the Development Critical Path, style number system, tech packs and BOM (Bill of Materials). The talent will coordinate the entire design development process, ensuring the timely creation of range overview sheets, fabric inquiries, specification sheets and sample deliveries. As the primary point of contact for development suppliers, the Design Room Manager will manage communication with pattern-makers, machinists and other stakeholders to guarantee clarity and timely execution. Additionally, the talent will handle the coordination of fittings, model bookings and the tracking of seasonal SMS movements to support design, wholesale and marketing efforts.

The successful talent will have 4-6 years of experience in design or production coordination within the fashion industry, with proficiency in Microsoft Office, GoogleSuite and basic Adobe Creative Suite. Strong understanding of spec sheets and tech packs, as well as experience working with fabric and trim suppliers and ERP systems are required. In addition, strong project management skills, attention to detail and the ability to manage multiple workflows under tight deadlines is essential. Commitment to the brands ethical business practices and environmental responsibility is necessary as the brand holds both B Corp and Carbon Neutral certification.
