Role Overview

UMENCO is recruiting a detail-driven Financial Controller for an iconic Australian fashion brand, founded in appreciation of considered design and refined simplicity.

In this role, the Financial Controller will be responsible for the preparation of monthly and quarterly financial statement reporting, in collaboration with key business stakeholders, and will monitor results, providing both strategic insights and in-depth analysis that support the brand’s business strategy, budget, forecast, and performance goals.

Their day-to-day remit will include profit planning, controlling and reporting, preparing annual and long-term plans in collaboration with the business’ leadership team, reviewing all existing financial processes, and implementing improved processes and efficiencies as identified.

They will proactively manage the company’s profitability by rigorously monitoring the performance of annual and long-term plans, and will monitor and manage the company’s cash flow, both over the short-term and the longer term.

Financial Controller will ensure that all financial and accounting reports are produced in a timely and accurate manner and comply with accepted accounting standards, practices, and principles.

In addition, they will maintain all necessary records and information to allow for the preparation of accounting, taxation, and other statutory information, and will ensure statutory and legislative compliance throughout the business at all times.

The Financial Controller will be accountable to evaluate and report on the financial aspects of any proposed development, new stores, capital expenditure, investments or sale or acquisition of assets or businesses, and where needed will support the Assistant Accountant by reviewing balance sheet reconciliations, payroll, and monthly/quarterly compliance.

The talent we seek will present with demonstrated experience in a similar role, working within a multi-channel retail environment, and will hold proven financial modelling experience.

They will be CPA qualified and will have experience working in a high-growth business with a background in finance process improvement, standardisation initiatives, and financial system implementation.

The successful talent will hold excellent problem solving, analytical, technical, and numerical abilities, possess a broad knowledge of accounting principles, hold strong analytical and reporting skills, with the ability to present and communicate data, and possess excellent written and verbal communication skills, with the willingness to engage across every level of the team.
