Role Overview

UMENCO is recruiting an organised and fastidious Garment Technician Manager to join the team at one of Australia’s most successful multi-branded fashion houses, working across a suite of iconic labels.

The Garment Technician Manager is responsible for managing the garment tech team and overseeing the workload across two key brands in the overarching brand collective.

They will be accountable to develop and maintain signature fit and standards across all items that are developed and produced, ensuring consistency across all collections, and overseeing the conformity of all development and production samples to the standard required across fit, make, fabrications, regulations, and sizing. 

In this cross-functional role, the Garment Technician Manager will work closely with the design team, production team, and offshore factories.

Our ideal talent will be expert in their ability to manage their team, and will have a scope of specialist experience across women’s fashion, tailoring, dresses, soft separates, knitwear, denim, cut and sew, activewear, swimwear, and children’s wear – all aligned to high-end or luxury fashion standards.

The Garment Technician Manager will take a hands-on approach, providing direct support in processing development and production of product in a day-to-day capacity.

The talent we seek will have a background in contemporary or luxury fashion, and a wealth of experience working in a fast-paced environment, alongside other the wider design and production teams. 

They will be able to prioritise and work in adherence with critical path key dates, as well the ability to fit and execute to Gold Seal standard.

The Garment Technician Manager will present with a senior-level working knowledge of pattern making and manufacturing, outstanding fabric knowledge spanning woven, jersey, delicate, and structured fabric bases, alongside technical components and sewing machines.

They will have a demonstrated comprehension of global supply chains across Asia, India, and Europe; a strong numerical compass; excellent problem-solving skills, and a tenacious, assertive, and determined attitude with excellent attention to detail.
