Garment Technician

Brand Story

This brand has been a leader in the Australian fashion landscape for close to two decades, known for their luxurious pieces, expert tailoring and seasonless modernity.

Role Overview

UMENCO is recruiting a fastidious Garment Technician to work alongside the production and design teams at a coveted luxury womenswear brand.

In this role, the Garment Technician will draw on their advanced technical knowledge to translate the seasonal design vision to specs and tech packs.

They will create garment and measurement specifications for new and repeat offshore styles, being accountable for establishing and maintaining quality and fit standards to ensure garments are manufactured to the brand’s exacting standards.

The Garment Technician will measure and process all samples against specifications sent to the vendors; attend all fit sessions and provide technical advice; resolve any potential style and fit issues; identify and prevent potential production and QC problems, and liaise with vendors to address fit and construction changes and answer technical questions as they arise.

They will also manage grading rules and measurements for all offshore specs for production in line with the brand’s standards; adhere to company timelines by processing tech packs and signing off on all development and production in a timely manner, and will work with the production manager to sign-off on shipping samples and approval to ship bulk.

The successful talent will also work collaboratively with the customer service team to glean practical insights into the fit, fabric, and workmanship of garments.

The talent we seek will have an inherent ability to problem-solve and time-manage, adhere to a critical path, overcome obstacles, and collaborate with teams and suppliers to deliver products that are consistent in their fit and construction.

They will have a minimum of 5 years of experience in an aligned role, preferably within the fashion and apparel industry, and will hold a tertiary qualification in technical fashion with proficiency across tools including the Microsoft Office suite and QA and pattern-making related software.

Our ideal talent will consistently demonstrate an exceptional work ethic and enthusiasm, as well as a willingness to build cross-functional relationships with other departments to assist and support different teams.

They will be a confident and warm communicator, able to deliver constructive feedback and keep channels of communication open between all internal and external stakeholders.

Confidence in navigating deadlines is essential to the execution of this role, and the successful Garment Technician will also have an aptitude for problem-solving and responding to challenges with agility.
