UMENCO is recruiting a fastidious Garment Technician to work alongside the production and design teams at a coveted Australian fashion brand.

The Garment Technician will be accountable for establishing and maintaining quality and fit standards across all product and textile categories, at every touchpoint of the product lifecycle, to ensure garments are manufactured with accuracy.

The successful talent will possess advanced technical knowledge with the ability to interpret design briefings and translate these to specs and tech packs.

In this role, the key responsibilities of the Garment Technician will involve upholding all manuals and documents; amending and creating patterns and blocks from scratch; creating proto samples; building technical packs for offshore suppliers; providing technical consultancy to the in-house design team; and conducting fit sessions.

They will also engage in cross-functional communications between global factories and suppliers, relaying information to design and production teams with clarity and timeliness. Additionally, they will liaise with customer service departments to glean practical insights into the fit, fabric and workmanship of garments.

The talent we seek will have an inherent ability to problem-solve and time-manage, adhere to a critical path, overcome obstacles and collaborate with teams and suppliers to deliver products that are consistent in their fit and construction.

They will have a minimum of five years of experience in an aligned role, preferably within the fashion and apparel industry, and will hold a tertiary qualification in technical fashion with proficiency across tools including the Microsoft Office suite and QA and pattern-making related software.

Organisational adeptness, cogent communication, and confidence in navigating deadlines are essential to the execution of this role.
