General Manager

Brand Story

Role Overview

UMENCO is recruiting an insightful, passionate General Manager for an internationally renowned Australian and New Zealand fashion sales agency and consultancy.

In this business-critical role, the General Manager will be pivotal in the implementation of the agency’s strategic plan and progressive growth.

Reporting to the Founders, the General Manager will interpret big picture business and brand briefs, and independently lead the business across commercial and tactical performance, team leadership, and market positioning.

This role presents a career-defining opportunity to shape the strategy and long-term trajectory of this renowned agency, building on its current global reputation to cement it as an international leader.

The General Manager will be an inherently entrepreneurial individual who is confident to build and scale the agency effectively within the luxury fashion, beauty and lifestyle space.

The talent we seek will hold a robust depth of knowledge pertaining to the fashion sales and wholesale cycle, with experience in leading team and client relationships at a senior agency level. They will be able to deliver bespoke strategies that meet real client business needs; develop and monitor measurable goals for each client project; and lead the agency on all project timelines to ensure that each client has their expectations met and exceeded, within or under budget estimates.

The successful General Manager will also present with experience in developing and managing a critical path; driving forecasting revenue, agency costs, and staffing requirements for each client; and managing profit and loss on client accounts.

Our ideal talent will have outstanding verbal and written skills; demonstrated leadership and resources management experience; the ability to motivate and coach others through change and scale; and the capacity to manage current and future business objectives in tandem.

They will build strong stakeholder relationships and demonstrate a keen willingness to understand inter-departmental dynamics and operations across the business.

Alongside this, they will have experience reporting on variances of revenue, OPEX, and direct margin to provide accurate financial analysis, with demonstrated experience leading commercial pivots or market launches to success, as well as a proven understanding of data analysis, multi-channel/market operations, and managing complex budgets successfully.
