Role Overview

UMENCO is recruiting a passionate General Manager of Communications for a revered Australian fashion house.

In this role, the General Manager of Communications will be accountable for leading organic brand growth, heightening brand awareness, and driving the resulting traffic both to bricks-and-mortar spaces and across digital channels, ultimately contributing to the commercial objectives of the business.

The General Manager of Communications will direct and oversee the implementation of considered, strategic campaigns, events, and activations, supporting the General Manager of Brand & Content, Marketing Director, and the Creative Director to ensure that creative deliverables align with commercial objectives.

They will be responsible for assisting the General Manager of Brand & Content and Marketing Director in carrying out all seasonal communications requirements, executing a 360-degree communications and marketing plan, and briefing the PR, marketing, content and digital team to deliver on the overarching strategy, inspiring them to think tactically.

The talent we seek will be an adept and experienced communications professional, with an innate cognisance of the brand’s tone of voice and the ability to modulate tone across a range of communication touch-points. They will be proactive, innovative, and strategic in their thinking around brand communications, able to propose solutions that meet commercial and brand requirements and translate these to the team to establish a collective vision.

The General Manager of Communications will hold a strong analytical compass, exceptional organisation, and communication skills, with the confidence to manage intersecting day-to-day deadlines and long-term projects.

The successful talent will have 10-years experience in B2C communications and PR, preferably within the fashion and lifestyle industries.

They will have a history working in digital contexts, with a demonstrated record of delivering growth within budget, delivering reporting and insights, and the proven ability to manage a team to achieve collective results.

They will be an adroit communicator, able to build and evolve relationships with a multitude of internal and external stakeholders, and will be inherently curious in their pursuit of improving processes and technologies.
