Role Overview


UMENCO is recruiting the role of Graphic Designer with the key responsibilities being, to generate finished artwork that delivers successful and effective results for the entire organisation and its customers. This role must encompass best practice design, photography, print management, technology, innovation, digital knowledge, retail, marketing, product marketing, and deadline, budget, and time management.

The position requires a creative mind who enjoys creating visual storytelling through words and imagery across all branded collateral inclusive of digital, eCommerce, visual merchandising, brand presentations, and brand identity.

The role of Junior Art Director will be to assist the Head of Brand to conceptualise, design, and execute the in house creative services of the brand, to communicate a consistent and aspirational visual and written image to media, wholesale, agents, retail, ambassadors and the consumer.

Marketing and Communications

Develop creative ideation under the strategic marketing direction of the Head of Marketing & Digital, in collaboration with Head of Brand.

Conceive fresh, clever, elegant ideas and manage the creative process from concept creation and presentation through to briefing and final production across various touchpoints including:

  •   Website
  •   EDMS
  •   Social Media
  •   Digital Media
  •   Print Media (biannual magazine)
  •   Brand Collateral
  •   Event Collateral
  •   Branded Stationery
  •   Special Projects

Branding

  • Assists the Brand Manager in coming up with Seasonal Collection Campaign concepts and supporting design assets.
  • Works with the graphic team under the direction of Brand Manager to prepare Seasonal ‘content deck’ to ensure all required creative collateral is developed and executed in line with the seasonal storytelling.
  • Uses the Content deck to build photo shoot specifications and shot list.
  • Assists with Casting brand image appropriate talent
  • Supports the Brand Manager to produce, shoot and style imagery where external resources are not available
  • Under the direction of the Brand Manager, helps design concepts and content for website, seasonal EDM templates.
  • Submits design concepts and content to the Brand Manager for Social Media and Digital Marketing
  • Ensure eCommerce shoots are delivered on brief, in time, to budget.
  • Design and develop product branding when required
  • Website design when required
  • Adhoc landing page design direction and content output when required
  • New digital initiatives including innovation around eCommerce
  • Under the direction of the Creative Director and Brand Manager, supports the creative build of the brand guidelines for packaging.
  • Applies brand creative to the design and production of bags, tissue, product labeling.
  • Produces print-ready and spec direction for all brand labelling and packaging for external suppliers.

Reporting

  • With the Brand Manager, update your weekly WIP each week
  • Weekly updates with Head of Marketing & Directors (as required).
  • Weekly updates on all content and branding material in development and being produced.

Task Summary Includes:

  •   Managing a large and varied workflow
  •   Taking a brief and creating the creative territory, following through to execution
  •   Estimating the time, the project will require, and proving external quotes where relevant.
  •   Coming up with design concepts that meet the brief
  •   Creating final designs to budget and on deadline.
  •   Amending designs based on feedback
  •   Proofing and preparing designs for print as required


Skills and Experience

  •   4+ years’ experience in Graphic Design and/or creative lead roles
  •   Experience with tailoring, fashion & lifestyle retail brands
  •   A track record of delivering results against marketing, communication and digital
    expectations.
  •   Exceptional internal and external stakeholder management skills
  •   Ability to prioritise and implement a wide and varied workflow to deadline and on budget
  •   Capable of directing and driving agencies and external consultants
  •   A creative and organised individual
  •   Entrepreneurial spirit
  •   Consistently clever
  •   An understanding of evolving industry innovations and trends
