Role Overview

UMENCO is recruiting a proactive, forward-thinking Head of Merchandise Planning for a premium Australian retailer.

The Head of Merchandise Planning will manage all aspects of product planning in accordance with the merchandise strategy, with the overall objective of maximising sales and gross profit. In this role, they will oversee the daily processing of inventory within stores, identifying opportunities to deliver on key sales targets and other financial KPIs.

The successful talent will design and implement merchandise planning processes; develop and implement seasonal category plans; identify market opportunities to drive growth and determine product sales mix, stock levels, retail prices and margins; and establish and manage the OTB, across retail, eCommerce and wholesale.

Additionally, they will drive the assortment planning methodology to determine the ideal assortment, conducting trend analysis to support informed and considered design development and buying decisions.

The Head of Merchandise Planning will also oversee the preparation of store grading plans across distribution channels; manage intake, allocation and replenishment processes to ensure the accuracy of future sales forecasts for optimised stock levels; monitor trading performance each season—evaluating exit strategies to maximise sales and margin, and implement strategies to manage aged stock for each season end.

They will have proven experience managing a team, with the confidence to present initiatives to deliver key strategic objectives, support team member development, deliver feedback and proactively cultivate a working environment that recognises individual and team successes.

Analytical adeptness, strong commercial acumen and high-level organisation skills are essential to the execution of this role.

Our ideal talent will have a minimum of five-years experience in an aligned role, preferably within the retail or fashion industry, with a thorough understanding of vertical retail.
