Pattern Maker & Garment Technician

Brand Story

This contemporary Australian fashion label is known for their elevated everyday basics.

Role Overview

UMENCO is recruiting a detail-focused Pattern Maker & Garment Technician for a coveted resortwear brand as they enter a period of significant growth.

In this role, the Pattern Maker & Garment Technician will work directly with the Creative Director and will be responsible for creating patterns from the original concept stage, through to finalising specs and tech packs.

Pattern Maker & Garment Technician will be adept in their ability to create and develop initial patterns from concept, through to final graded patterns for production, and will have a breadth of experience creating detailed spec sheets, including measurements, and grading details for local and offshore factories.

They will provide technical advice to the Creative Director to resolve any fit or construction issues that may arise; attend design meetings during each stage of the design process from concept through to final approval; manage fitting sessions with the Creative Director as required, and action fit comments and manage approvals on all sampling through the product development process.

The talent we seek will have a strong understanding of the business timeline and production processes and will be able to make clear, decisive, and timely decisions.

They will hold an understanding of, and connection with the brand aesthetic; demonstrate a robust knowledge of pattern making and garment construction, and present as detail orientated, with sound technical garment and fabric knowledge.

Our ideal talent will have a creative approach to pattern making, and the ability to demonstrate creative instincts and a clear point of view.

Confidence in navigating deadlines is essential to the execution of this role, and the successful Pattern Maker & Garment Technician will also have an aptitude for problem-solving and responding to challenges with agility.
