Role Overview


UMENCO is recruiting a highly capable, intuitive and discreet Senior Executive Assistant to support a CEO and Editor-in-Chief for a fashion and cultural publication.

This hybrid role extends beyond traditional executive support, encompassing elements of chief of staff and business operations. Acting as a trusted right hand, the position plays a key role in ensuring both the Editor-in-Chief and the wider team operate with clarity, alignment and efficiency, while maintaining a seamless and well-functioning office environment.

The role combines high-level executive support with hands-on coordination, requiring the ability to manage complex schedules, communications and travel with precision and foresight. It involves preparing briefing materials, overseeing correspondence and acting as a gatekeeper when needed, while also supporting the development of presentations, proposals and editorial outputs. A strong sense of discretion, organisation and prioritisation is essential, alongside the ability to anticipate needs and manage competing demands with confidence.

In addition, the position acts as a central connector across the business, supporting alignment between the Editor-in-Chief and their direct reports across editorial, commercial and marketing functions. It involves tracking priorities, managing workflows and removing operational roadblocks to enable productivity and creative output. the role also contributes to fostering a positive and considered team culture, supporting onboarding, internal communication and ensuring the business maintains a strong sense of structure and momentum.

Beyond executive and team support, the role oversees day-to-day office operations, managing suppliers, budgets and administrative functions to ensure a high-performing and efficient environment. This includes maintaining external partnerships, improving systems and workflows and ensuring operational excellence across all touchpoints. The ideal talent will bring significant experience supporting senior leadership, with strong organisational, communication and problem-solving skills and thrives in a creative industry setting where adaptability, discretion and initiative are key.
