Role Overview


UMENCO is recruiting a Garment Technician for a noted Australian RTW and lifestyle brand, who are known for their refined wardrobe staples.

The Garment Technician plays a key leadership role within the Product team, reporting to the Head of Product Development. This role is responsible for the end-to-end development of seasonal apparel collections, ensuring products are delivered from initial brief through to production in alignment with the brands creative vision, quality standards, value expectations and seasonal timelines.

Leading technical development across women’s, men’s and kids categories, the role will oversees fit, construction, trims and finishes to ensure consistency and excellence across all ranges. Responsibilities include creating and maintaining accurate technical documentation, managing pattern blocks and trim libraries, leading fit sessions and proactively identifying and resolving risks relating to quality, margin or production. The role also manages style handover to Production, ensuring all testing, compliance and bulk approvals are completed to standard.

The position is accountable for managing the development of the critical path and sample process, maintaining accurate tracking and clear communication within Style Arcade. Strong supplier relationships are central to success, with the role partnering closely with offshore suppliers to uphold technical and performance expectations, support continuous improvement initiatives and contribute to sourcing and redevelopment strategies in collaboration with Product Development and Production leadership.

In addition, the Garment Technician will mentor and support junior team members, providing technical guidance and fostering a culture of collaboration, accountability and continual improvement. Success in the role is demonstrated through consistently delivering seasonal ranges, that meet brand, quality, cost and lead-time targets, maintaining high development hit rates, building trusted supplier partnerships and embodying the brands values while continuing to develop technical expertise and leadership accountability.
