Role Overview
UMENCO is recruiting a Menswear Designer for a modern tailoring house, defined by craftsmanship, individuality and contemporary approach to classic design.
Reporting to the Design Director and the Creative Director, this role is responsible for managing the end-to-end design process across the menswear collections. From initial concept and range planning through to sketching, fabrication and pre-sell support, the Menswear Designer will play a key role in shaping collections that balance creativity with commercial performance. The position requires driving innovation while ensuring alignment with production timelines, sales channel requirements and margin objectives.
Working collaboratively across design, development and production teams, the role ensures all collections are delivered to schedule and executed to the highest standard. Responsibilities include developing seasonal concepts, maintaining mood boards and colour palettes, sourcing fabrics and trims and producing accurate technical sketches. The Menswear Designer will also be involved in fittings, overseeing the development process, managing tech packs and toiles and ensuring all styles evolve in line with brand direction, quality expectations and customer needs.
In addition, the role supports cost management and pre-market preparation, working closely with suppliers and internal teams to meet margin targets and ensure commercial viability. This includes overseeing costings, contributing to range reviews and supporting the handover to production. The ideal talent will bring strong technical expertise, a refined design sensibility and a deep understanding of menswear with the ability to work both strategically and hands-on within a collaborative, fast-paced environment.
