Senior Designer

UMENCO is seeking a Senior Designer for an established Australian womenswear brand.

The Senior Designer will be a creative force with a sharp commercial edge. The successful talent will produce the submit weekly design sketches across categories including knitwear and offshore, presenting refined concepts for review at buying meetings. Working closely with the pattern room, the Senior Designer will fit and perfect styles through to production-ready standard, contributing thoughtfully in design meetings and driving alterations with a clear point of view. An analytical approach is equally important – identifying existing styles with strong bones that can be re-fabricated to maximise pattern efficiency without compromising on design integrity.

The Senior Designer will bring a considered and curious eye to the sourcing process, researching accessories and trims that elevate each style and reviewing new fabrications as the season demands. The successful talent will be aware of both international design and lifestyle trends and local retail directions keeps the collection feeling current and commercially grounded. The Senior Designer will understand that the details are what define a garment, and approach every decision with that in mind.

The Senior Designer will understand that great design extends beyond the studio. At the outset of each season, you successful talent will collaborate with the design team and Art Director to shape the visual direction of the shoot, contributing ideas that bring the collection to life in a way that is authentic to the brand. The Senior Designers involvement in the campaign process will reflect their broader understanding of how design, storytelling and brand identity work together to create something truly compelling.
