Role Overview
UMENCO is seeking an Art Director for a female-founded brand whose designs are centred around key seasonal styles and modern tailored essentials.
This role reports directly to the Marketing Director and is responsible for conceptualising, designing, curating and executing all creative to maintain a clever, consistent and aspirational visual image. The role requires a creative mind passionate about visual storytelling through design, typography, layouts and motion graphics while ensuring alignment with the brands pillars. The successful talent will need to think innovatively, solve problems quickly and manage day-to-day deadlines, balancing creativity with logistical, commercial and brand needs.
Key responsibilities of the Art Director include generating finished artwork that supports the organisation’s goals, focusing on best practices in design, photography, print management, technology and digital knowledge. This role spans across various creative touch points such as website, social media, print media, event collateral and special projects. The art Director will work closely with the Marketing Director and Creative Director to develop ideation and execute creative campaigns, ensuring all content is on-brand and in line with the brands strategic objectives. They will also manage seasonal, monthly and weekly content, ensuring timely execution and quality across all mediums.
In terms of branding, the Art Director will conceive and execute content and imagery that aligns with the brands and briefs, overseeing the development and rollout of creative across digital and traditional media. This includes managing seasonal campaigns, designing content for digital marketing, creating product branding and developing website design. The Art Director will also direct photo shoots, manage talent and design assets for various marketing channels, including social media and digital media, while ensuring a consistent and high standard of creative execution.
The ideal talent will have extensive experience in art direction or creative lead roles, ideally within fashion or lifestyle retail brands. They should have a proven track record of meeting marketing, communication and digital goals while managing internal and external stakeholders effectively. A strong ability to prioritise and manage a diverse workload, direct agencies and external consultants and stay updated on industry trends and innovations is essential. The candidate must be creative, organised and possess an entrepreneurial spirit, consistently bringing clever solutions.
