Role Overview


UMENCO is currently seeking a Merchandise Director for an established Australian brand who are known for their refined wardrobe staples.

In this role, you will spearhead the development and execution of seasonal category plans, harnessing market opportunities to boost group sales, margins, sell-through rates, and stock turn targets. The successful talent will strategically shape the merchandising strategy for the brand, focusing on emerging markets.

While collaborating closely with Design teams, the Merchandise Director will drive product development and maintaining brand standards, crafting and executing a merchandise and buying strategy that meets commercial goals and upholds brand values.

This role encompasses managing financial and merchandise KPIs, including range planning, option counts and stock levels, while overseeing both top-down and bottom-up forecasting processes for DTC and wholesale groups. The successful talent will work closely with the Design and Products teams to refine price architecture and execution strategies and partner with Sourcing to enhance the brand’s value through strategic style and fabric planning. A critical part of the role will involve mentoring and developing the Buying and Planning teams, fostering a culture of transparency, problem-solving and continuous improvement.

Extensive experience within this area is required with proven ability to achieve KPIs, advanced Excel and reporting skills as well as acute attention to detail is essential.
