Role Overview


UMENCO is recruiting an experienced, detailed focused Pattern Maker for a contemporary RTW brand. In this role, the Pattern Maker will work directly with the Head Designer and will be respondsible for creating patterns from the original concept stage, through to finalising specs and tech packs. 

The successful talent will be adept to their ability to create and develop initial patterns from concept, through to final graded patterns for production, and will have a breadth of experience creating detailed spec sheets, including measurements and grading for local and offshore factories.

They will provide technical advice to the Head Designer to resolve any fit or construction issues that may arise; attend design meetings during each stage of the design process from concept through to final approval; manage fitting sessions with the Head Designer as required and action fit comments and manage approvals on all sampling through the product development process.

The talent we are seeking has a strong understanding of the business timeline and production processes and will be able to make clear, decisive and timely decisions.

They will hold an understanding and connection with the brand aesthetic and demonstrate a robust knowledge of pattern making and garment construction. The successful talent will be detail orientated with sound technical garment and fabric knowledge. They will have a creative approach to pattern-making and the ability to demonstrate creative instincts and a clear point of view.

A confidence in navigating deadlines is essential to the execution of this role, as well as an aptitude for problem-solving and responding to challenges with agility.
